New Year, New Aim

Hohoho 2011 is just around the corner. And according to the the Mayans or the Aztecs, the world is coming to and end in 2012! Well we don't know if it's going to be armageddon or not but one thing is for real - we're going to live as if there's no tomorrow. Oh crap! Why am I yapping about life these days? Guess I'm getting more sceptical about it due to many reasons.

Anyway, we have a few public holidays this month and I'm a hard core fan of public holidays and I celebrate public holidays rather than the festivals itself LOL. The second celebration that I love is Christmas; after the Chinese New Year. For whatsoever reason it is, the color and the spirit is what make it quite similar to CNY. It has got red color, it has got cheerful festival songs, the mascots (God of Fortune & Santa Clause) wear red, they have long beard, red is a crucial color for both festivals, gifts & angpows are given to children, and most importantly, there are lots of food and beer!! LOL.

Everyone and you, my friends will be busy making new year resolutions and probably might forget it the very next day. But hey we have something to look forward to in life. So sweep all your problems under the rug and have fun!!!

Going Japanese

What's life without food anyway? I've always been an anti-sushi kinda person and it all gradually changed over the period of a few months' time. I... I mean we bought the ready-packed sushi that's available in Jusco for tea time whenever we go out. It tasted bland at first but when I tried something else which is more intensely flavored, it's actually very delicious. I'm targeting all famous sushi restaurants for my next 'Satisfy My Taste Bud Food Expedition' adventure =P

Expect the Unexpected

Some things can turn out pretty unexpectedly. Well, it's just a matter of time before it happens. And we don't usually prep ourselves for such events to happen anytime soon. One of them is Death.

As I was having my dinner tonight, my Sensei called me. It was odd for him to call me at such an hour of the day, let alone on weekdays. So I picked up the call and he told me that he couldn't make it to our class this weekend, and that he wanted us to help him conduct the class. So I said okay. "My mother passed away."
I was dumbfounded for a while and I wanted to say how sorry I am to hear that. The only hold back was that I don't know how to say it in mandarin -.-'' Sigh... guess I have to Google it and tell him next week.

Life is a diary full of pages, waiting for something to be written on it. It starts from the day you were born till the moment that your soul will be taken back by the Angel of Death; for God. Looking in my diary, I've so many things written on it. I have two columns; one for Good and the other for Bad. For now, I'd like to add to the Good column because I know I can't erase the Bad ones. Life is full of unexpected things. And before it's too late to do something, or to say something, do it now before it's too late.

My deepest condolences to Sensei's beloved Mother. May your soul be blessed and memories of you shall be etched forever in your family's mind. Amitofo.

Hairy Business

I got myself a new haircut the other day and I never thought I would love it. Seriously, it's like a mix of Adam Lambert/Tommy Ratliff/Ciara/Rihanna kinda style. Boy I love it.

First of all, the hair on my left side is shorter than the right, more of like a pixie cut. And on my right, it is longer and the hairstylist (her name's Rachel) barely trim anything. Maybe my split ends.....that's all. So from front view, it's obvious that one side is thicker than the other. Cool =P

Experimenting with new and trendy hairstyles is something that I want to do. You wouldn't want to regret having only ONE hairstyle until the day you die. Picture this:

Grandson: Grandpa, look at my mohawk. It's cool, right? Now, I have chicks askingfor my phone number!

You : Dick XD, is that hairstyle even allowed in school? Oh and by the way, you're only seven.

Grandson: Oh, I part it when I go to school. What kinda hairstyles did you have when you were young, Grandpa?

You : *Thinking* *Scratching head* Hmm, curry puff hairstyle.

Grandson: Like this one? Only? Seriously? *LOL* You're no fun, grandpa. I wonder how Grandma came to like your hair.

You : Well she loves curry puff, that's why *grins*.

We come in a package which includes something from the top to the bottom. And if you're one who's not good in mix 'n' matching your clothes to make you look good, now let me tell you this. Your head is your only asset to save you from that catastrophe. Work on your looks and your hair. It's ok to look stupid and nerdy but if you have a very trendy hairstyle, that might make you sexy nerdy.

Oh wait, I have a flashback. There was a day when I went out to get my hair trimmed right before the next class starts. It was very near and cheap and I forced myself into trimming my hair out of desperation. My desperation here was when I couldn't style my hair anymore =P So instead of trimming my hair, that bloody barber cut my hair! It was so like a boy's hair and I hated it. And so I went back to the class and F4 started to laugh at my disastrous hair. LOL. {You know who you are when you're reading this hahaha} Though I've had many successful and disastrous hair cuts, it's something I enjoy experimenting. You may not know those blessings in disguise. Maybe someone might sign you up for an ad or something hahaha.

Okay, back to reality. I wear black to work almost everyday and I still find it surprising that students love me...and even have a crush on me. Oh come on, I'm no cougar, you freaks!!! Get out of my life!!! Well despite my obviously dull attire, I think my looks and my hairstyle salvaged me from being thrown into that couture malfunction dungeon. So be bold to try on any new hairstyles. You're only young once. And seriously, I think long and wavy or straight hair is not the IN thing anymore. Short and stylish hair is. *In a way, that's me too LOL*

Anniversary again!

October! October!
2010 is almost over
But my happiness will last forever!

October is a very important month for me because I'm celebrating my anniversary this month!!! LOL. Looking back, so much has happened and there's so much more to look forward to in the future. And looking back, we've learnt from our mistakes and there will always be room for improvement. Whenever I lose my head, I remind myself of how he has loved and helped me so much when I'm off the track. He is the only reason I gave up being a devil LOL.

Food Embraces the World

I was just touring a nearby food fair to check it out without any expectations at all. The last time I went to a food fair, I ended up hungry because I hate most of the food. Now you can tell how finicky I am! =P Now back to the story, to my surprise, it was full of people from all walks of life (though thay are just students) and there were many food with many colors and flavors prepared by people from the local, Nigeria, Middle Eastern, China and such. To begin with, the place was filled with different aromas of food and I kinda hated it (my clothes smell of food) but the food and drinks were way better than pasar malam food. Among the food available were otak-otak, cakes, muffins, burgers, fruits, pastas, shakes and so much more! *I'm excited now!*

So I bought a giant sandwich which costs me RM6. What I realized was how cooperative and happy people are when it comes to food. I strongly believe that food do bring people together regardless of whether they're vegetarians or non-vegetarians. There is something for everyone. It's just a matter of coming up with something that's acceptable for everyone. What is meeting without rempeyek? What is hanging out without teh tarik? What is gathering without steamboat? What is offering prayers without fruits? See the connection? I'm starting to believe that I should be dealing with food instead of 'monkeys'. LOL.

Beauty & Her Best

Finally the biggest event of the year was over. All those blood and sweat *literally!* that we've poured has finally paid off. Everyone was yelling and unhappy with each other at first but last night, everyone had a big grin on their faces. I was of course completely drained after months of hardwork (my hardwork comes with lots of complaints and grumbling LOL) and believe me, I felt as if my skin has aged! I quickly put on my facial mask in hopes of restoring the S-Factor back in the dermis (mind you! S here means Sexy). So after this I have lots of detoxification to do considering how much fast food, processed food and spices have I stuffed inside my stomach when I was too busy to get myself a decent meal.

Speaking of food, I'd like to share a few beauty (LOL) secrets of mine. To begin with, I believe my skin is not half as bad afterall considering the amount of vits and herbal soups that I take every now and then. Both internal and external beauty are equally inportant and you have to prioritize them. Wash your face every morning, after exercising, after removing make up and before you sleep. Then followed by your facial care regime. Minimize the use of heavy cosmetics to avoid the hassle of removing it and damaging your skin. Drink plenty of water and if you're a tea person, green tea is the best because it has anti-oxidant and hence you know what that means. Drink herbal soups every now and then to strengthen your immune system and to add 'life' to your skin.

Big fish like Talapia and such has lots of fat around the belly so don't throw it away because that's the gold in the vault. It's rich in collagen which helps to strengthen your facial muscles and it's good for skin! So go for the best okay =) Last but not least, laughing has always been the best medicine and it also contributes to you having that million dollar look.

Love is Ubiquitous

Love is in the air~ lalala~

It's funny how trend has a major effect in every aspects of our lives. Fashion, food, entertainment, ideas, behaviors, love life and so much more. My once-a-kid-brother has proclaimed that he is in love and is about to start a relationship. I wouldn't be surprised considering the fact that humans are born with the capability to love and to be loved. I'm actually very happy that this world is slowly filled with people who are very much in love and cares nothing more than world peace and peacefulness. My biggest dream is to see everyone helping every human race regardless of their problems.
Love is at a spiritual level and once you've found love, the next person/thing/The One you turn to is God. God is great! All my life, I've been asking for nothing but blessings for my family, loved one and my friends (pets too, if I have one XD). What is wealth without health? And what is life without love? You see, everyone has something or someone to believe in and that's what you have faith in. That's also a steering of your life.
'Eat Pray Love' is about to be shown in cinemas and I reckon you to go watch it. There is so much more to life than a highly paid job, fame, fortune and status. Things and people's perception do not define you. It's who you are that defines you.

It has been said that if you don't take spicy food, you're a Singaporean. Bulls**t! Not all Malaysians love spicy food and nor do all Singaporeans hate spicy food. It's a matter of individual preference. I love my food to be as authentic as possible without sambal or really hot chilli belacan ruining it. I love sambal and belacan too, just at times. You know I've heard of how Malaysian love chilli sauce so much that they actually bring bottles of chilli sauce overseas just so that they can eat their food =P

Speaking of chilli, I suddenly remembered the time when I was a kid. We were staying in a flat, and our lot was the most corner one. My mom helped some of the bachelors do their laundry because they're too lazy to do it themselves (I suppose). So one night when my mom was at the back doing something, someone at the door rang the bell. I peeked outside and saw one of the bachelors. I yelled asking my mom to come quick to open the door. As I was watching tv at that time, I yelled really loud and frequent so that she would come and open the door (I was taught not to simply open doors to strangers >.<). When my mom finally showed up with her grumpiness, that damn bachelor disappeared. She thought I bluffed her and she got furious. She went to the back and came back with a chilli in her hand. She rubbed the chilli on my lips saying that I lied. Oh yuen wang eh... That how she got the idea on how to punish us whenever we lied.

Looking Down the Grassy Road

Phew it's been a while since I last log in. Time flew by like it's nobody's business. I'm beginning to feel the weight of age on me. Both physically and emotionally. Boy, how tired it is becoming an adult with so much responsibilities on my shoulder. Now I'm beginning to doubt if this path I'm taking is the right one for me. I imagined a few potential things that I can focus on if I'm tired of my current status. #1, a chef. I'd love to learn how to cook and bake. As the saying goes; 'The way to a man's heart is through his tummy.' Well screw that, they have something better in their head than food. Yeah if I'm good enough, maybe I can start my own business! Afterall, food is needed all the time whether it's during recession or not =) #2, a writer/blogger. I love to write and sadly enough I only have one true fan. How pathetic is that! Never mind, forget that. I came across a really good blog recently and I was inspired even more. I'd like to have a blog like that but sadly again, time doesn't allow me to do all those. I'm really trapped in the web of time. Free me! Maybe someday I'll be able to do all that. In the mean time, I hope my heart and mind are strong enough to hold myself together. I'm sailing in the middle of a rough sea with strong waves rocking my ship!

F Bomb

Okay so I've been dropping the F bomb ever since this morning. No, I'm not being indecent or vulgar here. F bomb means the Fart Bomb LOL. I guess it must be the lentils that I ate last night which caused this. Normally my F bomb doesn't smell so bad but when I dropped one a while ago, I swear the time machine (if there's any) just took me back to the time when I was standing in a toilet right after the person before me left with a horrible stench of her POO. Hmm too much gas isn't good too. I've been in countless situations where I accidentally dropped my F bomb. Well should you do when you're caught in this super embarassing situation? If you're in a crowd, wait till somebody says "Did you smell something?" then pretend to look around innocently and say "Argh, that's horrible". If you're with a stranger, run away as fast as you can soon after you dropped the F bomb. They will then be left wondering what the hell just happened and when they finally realize it, it's too late LOL. If you're with a friend in a room or something, yell "Skunk! Skunk!" and run out of the room =P

Lately I've been very conscious about what I'm eating because I believe 'I am what I eat' LOL. I start my morning with a cup of milk and end my day with a cup of green tea. And I DON'T take iced drinks during meal. This, according to an email sent to me by a friend, will solidify the oil from the food and in the long run, will turn into cancer @.@ So I'm very careful with that. The air, water, food and drink isn't 100% clean so we should do our best by being smart with what goes into our tummy. I want to imagine myself being a healthy granny when I grow old. Life is short so cherish it.

I think everyone's having a fever now, for at least a few weeks due to the World Cup. When you talk about football, you'll hear cheers, claps, howling, people falling down from too much jumping and such. And you'll also hear groans, moans, crying and thuds on the walls (from Gfs and wives who are being ditched aside by their men). Why and how is all this very exciting? I can't see beyond the sanity of this all. We even have old hags setting their alarms just so that they can get up in time to watch their fave team play *duh*. Seriously, I've freaking tried many times before, in fact, to sit down in front of the tv watching miniature people running around with a tiny dot in green background. And it all doesn't make any sense to me =.=''' Instead, I think people should opt to play sports more rather than being a potato couch cheering for their teams with bags of chips all around them. This is not the type of people we are trying to cultivate. It's good to watch sports to enable them to at least know how to play like a pro (wahaha yeah right) but too much of watching instead of moving around is bad too. And as if all that aren't enough, their partners who don't watch football will suffer. I know it's a once-in-every-four-years thingy but hey if a plant don't get enough sunshine, it will find its way to get it no matter what. You know what I'm trying to imply here. So practice moderation in everything you do. You don't want to be crying over spilt milk at the end of the day LOL.

Ring, Ring, Ring the Bells!

I can hear another wedding bell ringing and this time it's my Dear who's getting married. When was the last time I attended one? Oh it was last year in December (I think -.-''') 

Dear called me up during my class today and boy was I shocked to hear the news. Well I actually know it will happen someday. It's only a matter of time and I honestly didn't think it would be this fast wohoho. I'm happy for you, Dear. Because I know your greatest fear is now no longer a problem and I get to be your baby's Godmother (for the second time) yay~! 

I'm wondering when will my own wedding bells be ringing? I'm sure, certain, affirmative....that it will NOT be anytime soon. Not at all. Unless I get knocked up LOL. Which is impossible lah people. I guess I'll just let everything fall into its place naturally. Afterall I'm in the midst of piecing puzzles, trying to map out what my life would be like. The future seems so uncertain and vague. Of course lah it's the future what! *Silly me* So for the time being, enjoy life being unattached (legally) and do whatever crazy stuff while you still can.

You will always have to choose one that's most important to you. And often times landing yourself in a tangled up situation. Mama says...(oh come on dude...mothers know best but they are sometimes selfish, they want to keep you away from your gf!) My gf says...(um is she mature enough to understand what's going on? *a whack on you head* dude, girls hit puberty way earlier than boys).

Music - The Mind That Speaks

Aww just listen to that, how sweet is that? That line is from 'Until the Time is Through' by 5ive. It's raining outside and peering outside from my large window, I feel warm and inspired. I'm listening to songs from the 90s and I feel young~! XD Music has evolved over the years and there are many new genres that are new and alien to me. But I have to admit that no matter whichever genre that the songs are from, what matters most is the lyrics of the song. I'd like to share a real experience of mine.



It was more than 2 years ago that my friend sent me a song after few months of courtship. I was hesitant from the start. He was my friend. I guess love can blossom when the environment is right. I opened the attachment in my email and listened to the song. It was a beautiful song and the meaning was what he was trying to convey. As I was listening to the song, my mind was drifting away. I thought, 'Hey he knows how to use songs to woo me. He's different'. And so i was 'trapped' and I fell into this thing called Love =) *blush* I accepted his request and we are now a couple, very much in love LOL. He's the best thing that could ever happen to me (I love you Honey).

I believe our heart beats like the rhythm in songs. Use songs to connect to people and you can try convey your intended message through songs too.

Man's Best Friend

An incident which I witnessed yesterday brought me back to the years when my pups were still alive. We had 7 or 9 pups and 2 were officially mine. One was Dee Dee and the other Dingo. Both were equally playful. I love them with all my heart though they tried to rip the skin off my hands a few times but failed *LOL*. It was one evening when my mom came back from town and as usual she parked her car in front of the gate, went down to open the gate. Then I heard her shouting and yelling my name; asking me to come out. I ran out and to my horror, I saw Dingo sprawled in front of the front tyre. My mind went blank. She will be okay, maybe only her paws are injured. As I walked towards her, I saw that part of her right face was crushed by the front tyre. My mom was crying; terrified and didn't know what to do.

Hot tears streamed down my pale and shocked face. I started crying. How could this be happening? She's just a lil pup, there's still a long way to go. I turned to look everywhere and saw the bitch staring down at Dingo. Cold and dead as she was...I'm sure the bitch felt the same way as I did. On the other side, my bro's pup was licking something off the floor and OMFG it was some fragments of brain that must have splashed somewhere. As I lifted her up for the very last time to see her, my heart was broken into pieces looking at the lifeless carcass. Its body was still warm. I was then told to put it in the bin. I know it sounds cruel but the land at the back of my house was too shallow to bury it. And there's no cemetery for animals.

Memories of my pups will always be part of me as a person who love dogs. I'm glad that there are people who do their part by helping stray animals get shelter and try to get them adopted. May god bless the unfortunate souls of animals and the people who make dogs part of their lives.

What the heck is happening in this world today? I mean seriously~! Men all come out one at a time revealing who they have slept with; as if the boldest and greatest way to show how man they are is by sleeping with lots of hot chicks other than their wives. Could it be with the cleaner lady too? Possible. I read with despair and deep sorrow the news of Tiger Woods, the Guru from India, and now the Singaporean movie maker.

Where does marriage stand in a person's life? Is there even a meaning in marriage? Is there a significance? These questions have been revamped ever since Adam could lie and cheat on Eve. What about the wife being the only true love thingy... How do you think women can take that, knowing that some women are emotionally fragile? ROFLMAO I personally think this is one of the mid-life crisis that men will experience when they reach certain age. What could be the cause? Wives are not as scorching hot as before. Younger bitches are hot. The thrill that comes from doing something behind people's back. LOL come on dude.

You know, I begin to doubt how men in this universe can stay loyal to only one woman in their lives - that is their wives. Can't they make their lives like those in fairy tales where they get married to the one they love and settle down in a peaceful place happily for the rest of their lives? Men's greed is insatiable. Feed a tiger some meat and it will eat you up when there's nothing that it can feed on. Another type of men that frustrates women is the type of men who listen too much to their mothers and not their wives. I get the whole ' old is experienced' thingy but for heaven's sake, they have their own families now. So old hags, get your noses out of their butts now and do your thang. A bird will never learn to fly without having to fall and tries many times.

Human beings are dynamic beings endowed with intelligence and that's what makes them different from animals. One can only be blessed with intelligence or virtue. Only about 10% (according to my statistics) of human beings are blessed with both attributes. I have a student who came up to me and asked if I can give him some tips on what will come out in the final exam. He said if I help him and he passes, that's something that he will remember me by when he's not here. I was like W-H-A-T? I said no. And he walked away a broken hearted student *LMAO*.

In life, our right hand always gives and our left hand receives. If we expect something in return to what we give, we'll never gain merit in life. Sincerity comes from the heart, not from the pocket. Do something and don't expect something in return. If you're still expecting something, well let me tell you that the thing you should be expecting is a 'Thank you'. Half of the time, people will thank me for what I did. Half of them will be thanking me without even looking at me. *Duh*

I'm tired of educating stubborn people. We'll have to deal with the fact that human beings aren't perfect. And the better ones will always walk on a path that's lavished with good karma.

Happy new year. Gong Xi Fa Cai... Gong Xi... Gong Xi... It's the year of the Tiger *roar*. 

Looking at the news today, I felt touched and sad. '10 year old girl dies trying to save younger brother from fire'. Even at a tender age of 10, the girl knew that the most important asset to save in a fire is none other than her family member. *Amitofo..may God bless her soul in Heaven* This news bring me back to reality. I love my family members, there's no doubt about it. However I was shattered when I learned that my own family members betrayed us. There is a 'war' between families and nobody is happy about it. 

According to Chinese astrology, Tiger is a fierce, agile and strong animal. Hence this year we can expect some tragedies such as fire, deaths, flood, drought etc. The aura of the Tiger is strong and those who can't resist and overcome it will succumb to it. Here, I sincerely wish everyone especially our loved ones a happy and blessed year ahead.

Spices of Life

As I was born in the year of an Ox, sometimes I really do think that there's an 'animal' inside me that resembles the characteristics of an Ox LOL. I'm always looking for greener and fresher pasture over the other side of the fence. The light bulb atop my head suddenly lit few weeks ago when I suddenly ran out of idea on what to teach and that I began to lose my interest in teaching each and every day. Well guess what, I'm going for an interview tomorrow and God bless me, if it turns out to be the kind of thing I'm looking for, I'm saying goodbye to them LOL. I was nearly sabotaged by my students and today, I brainwashed and kinda threatened them. Hopefully they will be good till the end of the semester. And hopefully after this, I won't have to mention about them in my blog ever again~! 

Boy, how time flies. My favorite month of the year will soon come to an end and I'll turn 25~! Can I believe that...yes I can. Well, should be grateful to be able to wake up everyday and say "Good morning, Love" to our loved one (with our stinky breath) and carry on with our sometimes dull and boring routine. Life is a bore. Life is happening only when we're 'feeling' it. Do something we love. I actually am waiting for something really important in my life and I hope the day will soon come and I can really enjoy that moment.

Rojak~! That's how I'm feeling right now. I have mixed feelings today: anger, sadness and finally the long awaited happiness LOL. I received a call from FPP asking me to attend my masters interview next week! I guess it must be for Dec intake. Phew, need to offer prayers soon LOL. Oh and Ne-yo is here in Malaysia today and his tour will be tomorrow. How I wish I can be there. Anyway, got to gear myself up for the remaining hours left in the office. *Signing off*

Proud of Being One

There is a saying that goes like this: You are part of your culture if you can speak your mother tongue. I agree with this idea. I was touched when I read today's news about a 7 year old British girl in a vernacular chinese school in Penang. Somewhere out there in the world, people who are of different races from us actually acknowledge and place emphasis on Mandarin, our mother tongue (second language and foreign language for some). It's such a stupid thing to think that children will become so Kiasu when they're Chinese educated. I myself don't come from a Chinese school, but from a national school. Therefore I can't say for sure how the system is like in Chinese schools. Well first of all, let's not label them as Chinese schools because every school has got different administration system. They are called Chinese schools simply because the name of the schools are in Chinese. And majority of the students and teachers are Chinese. And Chinese subject is taught.
You see, since our ancestral times, education is a major part of our life. Hence every child is taught in a very strict and disciplined manner to achieve success set by the school, teachers and also parents. This determination is misinterpreted as a Kiasu attitude by most of the 'Bananas' nowadays. What they are lacking is social skills and self expression, that's all.
A leaf that drops far from a tree will still be a leaf from the same tree. Though other people may be good at some aspects of life, we musn't cast aside our own people and culture which we are rooted from.
